Commitment and enthusiasm for a better Ward 4

house renovationIn 1996, Tim bought a home in Ward 4 that he has spent years restoring.  He fell in love with Holyoke’s architecture, its people and its promise.

Today Tim Purington representing Ward 4 in the Holyoke Council.

“You can’t have a one-size-fits-all approach to Ward 4,” said Tim. “People’s experiences are very different. They need a councilor who can bridge the communication gap and address a variety of needs – crime, litter, speeding and business development.”

Tim is no stranger to rolling up his sleeves for Ward 4

  • He is head of the Ward 4 Neighborhood Watch.
  • A member of the Historic Holyoke at Wistariahurst Board of Directors.
  • A mayoral appointee to Holyoke’s Historic Commission.
  • Chair, Ward 4 Democratic Committee
  • A member of the NEARI School Board of Directors.

Tim knows how to be accessible

Throughout the summer Tim has crisscrossed Ward 4 - knocking doors on every street in the Ward and speaking with neighbors about what matters to them most.  “I want to know what issues matter to you  the most, and I want you to know who I am so when you have an issue, you’ll feel comfortable calling on me.”

Tim has the education and experience to help Ward 4

Tim has Masters Degree in Education.  He is currently the director of Prevention Services for Tapestry Health System.  As a health care advocate for the disenfranchised, Tim knows the importance of making health care accessible and affordable for everyone.

Tim was instrumental in developing and running programs like the Mobile Health Initiative – an RV that has been converted into a health clinic that provides medical care to low income and disenfranchised people in Holyoke and Springfield.
